You're Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Goal With These 3 Habits

For some clients, weight loss is a favourable goal that will make them feel more confidence in many areas of their life that may include health, fitness and their perception of body image.

From experience helping many clients with our personal training service and this specific goal, there are a few habits that need to change in order to achieve a successful and healthy weight loss goal.

If you are not prepared, be prepared to fail

Preparation is key for many things in life. A great quote I like over the years is "Success occurs when opportunity meets preparation."

Often one habit that is holding you back from achieving your weight loss goals is that you are not preparing the actions that need to be done to do so. This may include preparing your foods, preparing your schedule for workouts and even preparing your sleep schedule.

Often at Mind Performance Health we see the habit of not being prepared one of the biggest things holding back success or faster progress with any fat loss goal.

Our recommendation is to make sure you have a plan or reach out for help. This is one of the most important first steps.

Only following the plan or taking action when you're motivated

Motivation can be great... though lets be real and for most of us we know that motivation does come and go. From experience if you only do the necessary steps of achieving your goal when you are motivated you will be left behind. It's very simple. Now you may want to get into a proximity where you have accountability and support which can motivate you for longer and at higher levels. Though if you just rely on motivation as your only fuel source, it will let you down at times.

Our recommendation here is really to think about where you are at now and where you want to be. How would you feel at your goal? How would you feel if you stay the way you are? What would you be able to do if you reach your goal? What won't you be able to do if you don't? Remember these feelings. The habit of consistency will trump motivation at times.

The habit of excessively putting your own goals aside for others

We often hear this before our clients start with our personal trainers. For example it may be the mother who was prioritised everyone else in the family though may not of paid as much attention to her own health and fitness needs. Or you may sacrifice your health and fitness for a particular job, exam or career.

I say the word excessively above as It's my own personal belief that it is good to help others or do things for others at much time of your life. Though like everything else in life there can be a point where anything in excess can lead to a miss balance.

It's my recommendation to try and remember that working on bettering yourself can have a big positive influence on those around you. You will know if you have put yourself aside by reading this one, my advice for whatever it is worth.... Take massive action.
