In this blog I am going to give you some of my top 3 takeaways from working with Tony Robbins Business Mastery coaching that I think have potential influence to help you achieve any goal you desire to accomplish. This may be your health goals, physique, business etc... I do think these principles have quite a broad impact
For those that do not know T.R he is highly regarded as one of the top performance and mindset coaches in the world. He has worked closely with presidents, celebrities, athletes and every day human beings.
During Australia's first lockdown in 2020 I made a considerable investment to join Tony Robbins Business Mastery Coaching & Seminars. This coaching package had a timeframe of 1 year where I was taught systems, processes, thinking patterns and philosophy. For those of you that do not know myself as well, I have invested a lot of resources that include both time and money over the years in all areas of personal development, performance, nutrition and health so I can be better helping others.
To be honest, I originally thought of Tony Robbins as a bit of a Ra,Ra motivational speaker. It wasn't until I had the opportunity to work with a special client that I could see the impact of his work. This specific client was extremely grateful, had a very unique mindset, managed stress particularly well and was driven to achieve what they set out to do. This interested me. So when I asked what his "special sauce" was he pointed me in the direction of T.R and even invited me to one the business mastery events.
This event changed my perspective and from there I made the investment to learn.
Now being a business mastery event, there was a lot on business. I am not going to cover those topics or systems. What I will cover is a bit of philosophy and thinking patterns that once again I know have the potential for you to achieve your health, fitness and performance goals.
This is a big one. When expectations aren't met you can feel down, sad and confused. Learning to manage your expectations is a fantastic thinking process to help you push forward.
Specific to health and fitness there may be times you:
- Expected quicker results
- Expected to not get injured
- Expected to do the minimum and get the maximum
- Expected to look different at the end of your weight loss journey
- Expected to feel motivated all the time
- Expecting to achieve more weight loss during your menstrual cycle *ladies
These are just some examples. At MPH we aim to manage realistic expectations of weight loss, body fat loss, muscle gain and performance. What I find is a lot of people actually are confused of what are realistic expectations with their health and fitness. This is why it's important to know the specific markers and details you wish to improve towards your goals.
When expectations aren't met this may be when people stop, quit and change their behaviours for their own detriment towards their goals.
When expectations aren't met, trade them for appreciation. Appreciate either the lesson, the journey, the small wins or the benefits that you have gained. Once again this has the power to potentially help you push forward and not get held back with your own emotions.... and trust me sometimes it may be your emotions holding you back from achieving what you want.
Who you surround yourself with has the impact to influence your decisions. The better quality decisions you make, the better quality life you will have... (this is actually my third lesson I will cover).
In context of health and fitness if you are surrounded by people that are pushing you to be better, appreciate your effort and are keeping you accountable towards your goal you will have more likelihood of success vs people that are bringing you down, influencing you to make "bad" decisions and do not care for your success.
Those you associate with can change the direction of your life. They may push you to be better or hold you back to be worse.
Personal training and coaching is a proximity that is focused on support, accountability and achievement of goals. Don't underestimate its power to influence your personal health, fitness and performance.
Simple. Make better decisions = better quality life.
Everyday we make decisions that can influence our well being and life.
You may be making a decision to not do anything with your health and fitness
You may be making a decision to not do anything about that excess body fat
You may be making a decision to not improve your blood sugar or blood pressure
Sometimes the symptoms are there though we wait till there is so much pain before we make a decision to change. The thing is just imagine where you would be if you made the better decisions at the right time.
At times we may make decisions without thinking them through. I find those that are successful have either had so much pain before that they don't want to go back or they are very good at thinking of the upsides and downsides of each decision they make.
For a better decision making process
Know your outcome
Know your options
Know your upsides and downsides of each option
Know and rate the positive and negative impacts of each upside and downside
Mitigate the negatives
Make a decision
Taking time to weigh and think before making a decision is extremely powerful.
There is a reason I named this personal training business Mind Performance Health. Sometimes it's not the training or nutrition plan that is the roadblock but the mindset of the one following it.
