WHAT IS STRESS
Stress is the panic button your body presses when you feel threatened or endangered. A lion is chasing you – boom your body sends a message to your adrenal glands. Adrenaline is released.
You start running, anything non-essential shuts down (e.g. digestion and metabolism). Once the danger is gone your adrenaline and cortisol levels drop and your body systems attempt to return to a state of balance. This process is called the ‘fight or flight response’.
Below are some common functions that are impacted when you fight or flight (stress) pathways are excessively on
- Metabolism Function … RESULT = Your body processes energy slower.
- Digestion … RESULT = The mobilisation in your gut slows down effecting regular bowel movements.
- Hormone Regulation … RESULT = Mood patterns change / nervous system becomes hyperactive (having that underlying on edge feeling).
- Cell Regeneration …. RESULT = Muscle fibres don’t recover from training.
- Lack of Nutrition Adsorption …. RESULT = Nutrition deficiencies occur.
OKAY SO ….. YES !!!
The short term high of adrenaline and cortisol will situate an initial fat loss.
BUT … after a rapid drop in scale weight you will hit a plateau point. What you were once doing is no longer working.
THE LIMITATIONS that occur if you continue stressing your system:
①. Training becomes more toxic on your body.
②. A larger percent of muscle mass is lost when scale weight is decreasing
③. You will need to lower your food or increase output therefore, digging yourself a deeper hole.
④. The physique you hold at the end of your transformation will be at the expense of your physical and mental wellbeing.
