3 Steps To Beat Your Competition - Break Down Your Beliefs.

At our Rouse Hill personal training studio one of the first steps we take with clients to achieve their desired outcomes is a review and possible reframe of their current beliefs and values. Why? Your beliefs and values will dictate your behaviours and habits. If you are looking for consistency and long term progress...... This blog is for you.

What is a belief?

It’s an unconscious feeling that has developed from past experiences and continues to strengthen overtime. Your values and behaviours are built upon your beliefs. The power to act is driven by your beliefs. The act of missing out and things not going your way is a collection of limiting beliefs. 

What is a goal that you have always wanted to achieve and haven’t? Why haven’t you?

The answer is simple. The ACTIONS you are taking are skewed towards your VIEWS of the world and where you fit in it.

Let me add context to this, if you believe you are the ‘fat kid’ you will act in a way to confirm this belief. Who eats the leftovers …. You. Who wants dessert … You. Why …. Because your behaviours are influenced by your beliefs

Example two: If you’re an ‘Athlete’ you will wake up early, you will train, you may even overtrain to align with the perceived belief you need to do more to be fit.

Let’s knock down the walls of limiting beliefs to unlock untapped potential.

You are going to become good at getting selective.

 

FIRST STEP:

I want you to ask. 

 

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT BELIEFS ABOUT YOURSELF?

 

Some BELIEFS may be obvious, some you may be unaware of, but lets break it down:

 

1. Romantic relationships

2. Other relationships (family/friends/colleagues)

3. Physical abilities

4. Intelligence

5. Career

6. Appearance

7. Your traits / personality

 

What is the narrative / the story that exist in within these areas of your life. They may be positive, negative or neutral.

 

I want you to question and freely write down the narrative you tell yourself without judgement.

 

I took this as an opportunity to learn and grow. I personally was held back by the fact ‘that I am not smart enough. This belief stemmed from my childhood where I was told to work with my strengths of being confident and to stop trying to be something I am not. I want you to feel uncomfortable, on the other side of this is GROWTH. Write it down…and question…

 

SECOND STEP:

Your negative belief system doesn’t serve you now. YOU NEED TO reframe your mind.

Challenge yourself. You are capable.

How is it... that you can make more time

How is it... that your ideas are strong

How is it …that you continue to push when results are not yet to be seen.

 

It is essential for you to have the ability to look at the situation for what it is. Understand that you have the tools to change your course and continue.

 

Ask

WHAT IS YOUR NEW NARRATIVE?

 

REWRITE YOUR STORY!!

 

 

THIRD STEP:

 

WRITE DOWN YOUR NEW STANDARDS !! WRITE DOWN YOUR ACTION STEPS !!!

 

Together these steps and standards will produce a RESULT.

 

For example:

Negative belief = I can’t read

New Narrative = I will practise to read.

New standard = I will finish a book.

Action step = 10pages a day.

Result = Today I am half way through a book on hormonal imbalances which help me understand my health better and I become more valuableto my clients I work with.

This leads to a better career... stronger finances. 

 

 

You create the ripple on effect in all areas of your life. Write it down, have your plan in front of you. 

Success isn’t spoken, it is EXECUTED by...

I want your new story to start NOW. This blog is a tool to help you become aware. Next you need to GO & CREATE your own system to measure your action and accountability.
